Who we are
Hi! My name is Cooper Ren and I’m a high school senior at Harvard-Westlake, located in Studio City, California. As a competitive swimmer for over 10 years, I’ve spent countless hours training, racing, and pushing my body to its limits. But for a long time, I overlooked one of the most essential parts of performance and well-being: hydration. Until I was 14, I didn’t fully understand how dehydration was affecting my energy, focus, and recovery—until a coach finally sat me down and explained just how vital water really is. That moment changed everything. Now, through this platform, I hope to share what I wish I had known earlier. Our mission is to raise awareness about the dangers of dehydration and empower young athletes—and anyone like my younger self—with the knowledge to take care of their bodies from the inside out.
Why this matters
Hydration isn't just about drinking water—it’s about giving your body what it needs to function, grow, and thrive. Yet for many young people, especially athletes, the importance of hydration is often misunderstood or overlooked entirely. Dehydration can quietly affect performance, mood, concentration, and even long-term health, without ever being recognized as the root cause. By raising awareness early, we can help young athletes—and anyone like my younger self—understand how something as simple as water can make a massive difference. This platform exists to fill that knowledge gap, making hydration education accessible, engaging, and impactful for all.
What inspired me?
What inspired me wasn’t just my own realization—it was seeing the same struggle in the swimmers around me. When I was in 8th grade, a coach finally helped me understand that my fatigue, poor focus, and slow recovery were signs of dehydration. Once I made the change, I felt stronger, sharper, more capable. But as I paid more attention, I started noticing how many of my teammates were facing the same challenges without understanding why. They’d push through exhaustion or complain about fatigue without realizing that hydration could be the missing piece. That’s when it clicked: this isn’t just a personal issue, but rather a widespread problem fueled by a lack of awareness. We’re taught about training, diet, and technique, but not nearly enough about how crucial hydration is to all of it. I wanted to change that. This platform was born out of a desire to share what I wish I had known earlier, and to help others take better care of their bodies and minds from the inside out.
